A few years ago I used to write for
Manifesto Soul Magazine. This was a fanzine that was started Ian Palmer
a friend of mine, and it was initially sold at nighters for 50P and was
a photocopied A4 sized monthly that was aimed at the lighter side of
Northernsoul and concentrated on the people rather than the DJ's and
their expensive boxes of records and over inflated egos! We were quite
often threatened with law suits over telling it like it was and some
times it went a bit silly but it was always exiting. Manifesto was the
only real publication worth the read as it captured the scene and
cornered the market. Echoes and Blues and Soul were a bit "Up them
selves". As the Scene grew with people coming back into the fold rather
like Scootering! Manifesto grew to accommodate and ended up as a glossy
monthly read. Pretty soon Ian jacked his career in to concentrate on
Manifesto, I even considered leaving the forces to go full time but
decided to remain freelance. I had the honour of interviewing Edwin
Starr, The Four Tops, The Temptations and Scooterings own "Sticky" along
with regular Nighter revues. As Manifesto went from strength to strength
so did the pressure and Ian eventually decided to sell the magazine to a
larger publisher (heard this story before some were?) I stayed with the
mag for a few months but saw it change or at least a slant towards
Modern Soul and RnB and for me it lost it's roots concentrating on all
the things we originally avoided.

I haven't written for Manifesto for some time now but the other day
I found a few articles that I hadn't managed to delete during my many
and regular PC crashes! They are now
under the
AFSC
run reports section, have a look
and if you would like to comment on any thing or even submit your own
revue then please do. Our very own Scotty is away to bang (ooh err
sounds rude!) his PC with a few music write ups so we can all keep a
breast of what's happening on the foot tapping front. Mick Fulbrook has
tickled the keyboards for us as well and you can read our
AFSC
revues and run reports in

Please send every thing and nothing,
I'll tidy it all up for you and publish it here on our web site but after receiving about 400
Viagra/penis enlarger/inkjet cartridge junk mails last year, I am
now only opening e-mail that are flagged up with (AFSC Scootering).
I now have a monstrous seven foot penis and a printer that is gushing
out ink, so every one repeat after
me... "add (AFSC Scootering) into the subject box
of your e-mail to avoid accidental deletion" Send your e-mail to
afsc50@hotmail.com Thanks in
