Toby of Hidden Power S. C. Toby is the real German scooter wizard! PLANET SCOOTER Progress held up due to a puncture, the first run we have ever seen a car holding up the scooters! Carsten fox of The Cloud 9 & Dave from Köln who was the original owner of Carsten's SX 200!
Don't ask me why? But it seemed that most of the Germany based AFSC members were looking forward to this run like children before Christmas! Dave Bellis and Simon Brunskill both remarked in the guestbook that  there was a real feeling of anticipation and we saw a definite increase in guestbook traffic as the clock ticked closer to the run. Top this with the fact that quite a few of us had recently finished scooter projects and were chomping at the bit to ride out to the second German scooter rally of the season. It was almost painful to wait.
No, Kev, that's it. Look, I don't wanna be the same as everybody else. That's why I'm a Mod, see? I mean, you gotta be somebody, ain't ya, or you might as well jump in the sea and drown.

The Jetsons Scooter Club Info: www.jetsons.info opted to hold the run for one day only rather than over the whole week end. Their logic was that some of the German scooterists come for one day, arriving on the friday and leave saturday or saturday missing the friday. The AFSC were thus presented with a rare opportunity to gather on a friday and ride in together. Dia Ransom sized the occasion and pulled out all the stops by hosting a AFSC pre- run party for us on the friday. Paderborn was certainly going to be the place to be so on friday the 21st of May The Germany based AFSC members rode to Dempsey barracks home of 12th Regiment Royal Artillery.
Going to be one of the faces?...........What do you mean going to be? I AM one of the faces!

Greeting the riders were tac signs giving simple directions to the camp these were well placed and easy to find, the guard room had been briefed and we were sensibly ushered through the gates and into the accommodation with the minimum of fuss. Waiting us was a self contained flat complete with hot showers, coffee, tea and all the luxuries you do not expect on a scooter rally! The scooters had a fully secure indoor parking area and 12 Minden Battery Royal Artillery had graciously loaned us their bar facilities and for this we are very greatfull. During the evening yours truly spilled a complete pint over 12 Minden Battery Captain's T-Shirt like the complete pratt I am! " I have never been so embarrassed in my life!" The Paderborn Cloud 9 Scooter Club and the Hidden Power Scooter Club had been invited to share the friday night with us, it was great to see Carsten Fox and Michael of the Cloud 9 Club and Bricky, Toby, Borgo and Marion of The Hidden Power. Carsten Fox and our own Mick Fulbrook provided the sounds for the evening and as long as you were a Northernsoul freak you were in your element, I didn't hear any one complain.
I'll pay now if you don't mind. You haven't got a pen have you, your honour?

Riding down from the Hohne-Fally area were Craig Ballantyne, Steve Evans, Simon Brunskill and John Wymark sporting the longest (Alvin Stardust stylee) side burns in the world! Simon Brunskill had ridden his just completed SX and was grinning like a Cheshire cat all week end! Aggie made an  appearance from Guttersloh, but could not stay due to family commitments. Nice to see Dave Bellis back in his old stomping grounds complete with his Lambretta Li 200, yes you did read it correctly! I must admit to doing a double take my self, but it is exactly what it says on the can, a Li with a 200 lump a la Craig Ballantyne! The evening was spent catching up on run stories and drinking beer, we even had a curry buffet again thanks go to Dia Ransom. At about silly O'clock we drifted off to catch a few snores prior to our full English breakfast.
D'you want some lacquer on that? Nah, poofs wear lacquer.

Soon it was morning and time to ride the remaining twenty or so miles to the run. The only problem we encountered was that the car Carol, Zak and Elaine were in had a puncture. Craig and Mick gave us a REME wheel changing demonstration that would of made their Corps proud! We rendezvoused with the remaining Cloud 9 and a few from The Hidden Power at Bonnies Dinner then rode on mass into The Jetsons Run Site. Most of the usual suspects were already there but I must admit to being a little disappointed at the numbers. There was another German Scooter Run being held further North and I think this diluted the attendance? Is it time for a German NSRA? The German scene can ill afford conflicting dates and both club and rider will ultimately miss out if we don't start talking to each other!
Er, don't sing any of that old rubbish eh? That ain't rubbish pal, that's Gene Vincent!
Yeah that's what I said, old rubbish.

After the tents were thrown up, well done to Steve Evans who actually managed to do it under two hours, we formed up at the bar area and waited for the fun and games to start. We were a bit miffed at not winning the table football tournament but we were all amused to see a Kamikaze type hill climb on a P200E. We were content with making our own entertainment by practising synchronised drinking! Seventeen AFSC members having a giggle on a German Run gives you a warm and fluffy feeling. Without doubt thee best part of any run is catching up with old friends, seeing Toby, Rosie, Harry and Darren from The Cloud 9 SC was gleaming! Itsche provided us with free beer most of the night and Foxy met up with Dave from Köln who was the original owner of his SX 200! Bricky was in fine form and most of The Hidden Power SC had arrived late in the afternoon. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, we all had an exellent time! It was a pity Borgo and Marion had to leave early but it was work related so we all understood.

Warrior Clothing were out in forces with their most exellent products managed by the capable hand of Ted, it was good to see Hammy giving him a hand as well. Why not give Warrior Clothing a look, I'm sure our Ted will more than look after you.

Oh why don't you just roll over and do a few underwater farts?
The weather was never really on our side but it didn't break into the storm it promised. As far as I know we all made it home unscathed and reasonably dry? The weekend was definitely a rush and we thank The Jetsons Info: www.jetsons.info  for all their hard work and effort in organising the Run. Dia as usual was just the top banana and Carol and I would like to give a special thank you to Elaine for putting up with us. 12th Regiment were fantastic and respect for letting us do our thing on your camp. We are now eagerly anticipating The Filthy and Sly Run on the second of July were we will all meet up once more for a Scootering weekend.
