                     Below is a copy of a letter written by John Cluskey of Imber's Ovation. 

          Hello all, I really do not know where to start or for that matter where to finish. Let me tell you a bit about Imber's Ovation, well I joined the band in 1973, then their name was “Rectum.”  I’d never sang live on a stage before and one of the reasons for joining the band was that I could not go on working shifts any more. The band took a chance with me because they had been going since the 60’s. Back then they were called “The Imber Boys.” They were very good, and on occasion they were supported by groups of such calibre as Doll, The Squires and an up and coming welsh lad called Tom Jones. They didn’t do to bad for themselves did they?  Anyway “The Imber Boys” and later, in the glitter days, “Sparkling Imber Boys” we did all the working men’s clubs and discos up and down the country, trying to make a name for ourselves, then one day we were booked to play a Soul Club in Imber Village. We used to play there about every six weeks or so. Then one night around mid-night as we were packing our gear away and getting ready to leave the doors burst open and all these kids rushed in. I asked John (Higginsbottom,) who was the manager of Imber Soul Club and who, two years later, was to become the manager of Imber's Ovation, “What’s going on?” And he told me that, “It was something new he was trying for a few weeks, you never know,” he said. “It may even catch on.” It didn't.
