THE ARTISTS

Terry Callier: Imber 1971 a few hundred hardcore soul lovers are squeezedImberTerryCallier.jpg (9552 bytes) into the village soul club waiting for Terry Callier to walk down the stairs, and onto the stage. There's a burst of applause and whistling as he appears, naked and as he stands in front of the mike, cradles his acoustic guitar, closes his heavy eyes and lets an ear-to-ear smile cross his face. "Imber are you ready to rock?" Well from there it all goes tits up! Terry was booked to do "I don't want to see my self", "Take a look at me now" and ""Ordinary Joe!" but he insists on doing a rendition of Gilbert and Sullivan's "HMS Pinny fore!" terry's front two teeth were kicked out by the Scottish lads.

Born Nov 13, 1940 in South Carolina. Her sultry delivery earned Justine "Legs" Wilkinson R&B chart bows in four different decades, most notably on the delectable uptown soul classic "That's How wind is Made" for Sue Records in 1963. Born in South Carolina but raised in Harlem, Legs was a member of the Hearts in 1956 before tallying her first R&B hit in 1959 with "The Wrong Time Buddy I aint A Hooker" for Neptune. Billed occasionally as Jeanette or Justine Wilkinson, she scaled the soul charts into the mid-'70s with hits still hot from the '60s, such as her nugget "Only Those in Love get VD" ..... Bill Dahl ..... AMG. Legs appeared at Imber twice and was arrested both times for drug related offences.
