Hemsby 2004

The Chelsmford scooter club Hemsby winter warmer ..............like hell it was! at 6 a.m. on Friday morning riding up to Bookies I couldn't have been less warm and I knew it wasn't going to get much better. I got to Bookies and we set off after telling each other we must be mad half a dozen times. The ride up there was pretty straight forward, apart from getting geographically embarrassed in Hemel Hempstead (Brookie was navigating) It only took 9 hours from start to finish a walk in the park really!!
Once in Pontin’s we took over our accommodation which didn't look too far removed from Borstal but as it turned out we didn’t use it very much anyway. We had only been in the place 2 minutes when we met our first fellow
AFSC member Graham "GI Joe" Ockley who we had some cracking laughs with him. Next we met Andy Collins and his wife Mo "the oatmeal savage" (sorry Mo had to get that in) Andy put his scoot in the custom show its a quality special but i don’t know how well it did as i was mortalled by the time it had finished and I forgot to ask. The next to grace us with her presence was Trifle who was on great form, we hardly saw her off the dance floor and she saved our neck as both me and Brookie had forgotten our cameras, nice one Trifle your a star.

The Friday night must have been outstanding because it’s a blur but I know it was a great night. On the Saturday we had the battle of the bands this is where we met a few more cracking guys the first of which were ex Ssquadies Andy Cullen and Spencer, Andy is the manager of the band Spencer was in called GRASP they played a brilliant set and the whole competition was of a high standard, the judges had apparently done a runner so some bloke out of the audience was dragged out and chose a band unfortunately it wasn't GRASP. There's nothing much else to say about Saturday not even that I crashed my scoot after the group photo it wouldn’t be worth mentioning nobody cares about that apparently you don’t use your front brake on grass (school boy error).

The ride home was an emotional affair and Bookies navigating hadn't improved! reading the signs classes as cheating so we cuffed it. It was a corker of a weekend and we met some brilliant people too many to mention and if you were one who's slipped my mind I apologise but I hope to see you all again in the near future. Big thanks to Andy Cullen and his girlfriend who had the honour of living next to us and woke us up with brekkie on Sunday morning. And sorry for anyone woken up by Brookie at around 06:30 Saturday morning I don’t half sleep deeply doesn’t I.
