Hagen Germany, not too far from Dortmund, home of the Hidden Power scooter Club and location of The Hidden Power Custom Show, stroke Weekender. Held over the weekend 18 - 19 December 2004. A perfect venue for The AFSC Germany to see each other, get drunk and generally have fun before the Christmas holiday. Some time ago we had decided to have a club stand were we could show a few of our scootz and promote the AFSC, more about that in a moment.

Miss Hobgoblin Dia & Hobgoblin John Wymark

My weekend started well early as Harry Barlow (Pro Porting & Grand Prix Scooters),  Mark "Hitman" Hanson (Small frame Racing) and Sean visited on the Thursday night , not a good idea to do the drunk thing on a school night! Phone calls made and last minute arrangements for the Scooters and the club stand soon it was Saturday and time to set off towards Hagen. Gabby at the eleventh hour found out that she could make it for the weekend so we all ascended on the pre arranged RV at Hagen.

Borgo and Marion did an outstanding job of sorting all the arrangements for the AFSC members and it is no mean feet to stump up the money in advance for the hotel, The AFSC are eternally thankful to you Borgo!

Having all checked into the local youth hostel, Dia and I having to lie about our age, we then went on mass to the first pub we could find for a pre nighter snifter. The sight of all the Germany based AFSC members all sat at the bar wearing the AFSC club shirts is an awesome sight and one that always makes me swanicles revolve!

John Wymark had volunteered to design and print the AFSC Sticky Rock Attendance patch and the many designs were pondered over to find a patch that didn't smack of any nationality or any particular slant to any arm or service, quite hard to do but John managed! After eliminating such colors like the popular Pink and Apricot!...........what were you doing john?

The patch is done and dusted. brilliant job John and the patch will be given free to all AFSC members who meet at the sticky rock 2005. Not too bad for a club that charges no subs or membership! brilianttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!

"I swear................I was there!"

After a few scoops of Hagen's finest nats puish we ordered a fleet of taxis to take us to the Allnighter. Yours truly and Mick Fulbrook were to DJ for the evening and as usual Mick and I would be spinning a mix of oldies and newies. The venue was held in Tor 2 just outside the city centre. Its high ceiling and concrete floor gives it a rather nice ambience and the mood is instantly set for parteeeeeeeeeeeee! Now that could be the beer, but what the hey? A large stage area and ample dance floor gave a good focus towards the DJ with just the right sized chill area and adequate bar facilities. I was a little miffed at the bar prices, but they didn't run out of beer like they did last year!

The music for the evening was a mixed bag of Northern tunes, rare soul, RnB and Modern. I managed to squeeze in a couple of ultra modern sounds and Mick did his stuff with a slant towards sixties dancers. Leather steered the main slot towards ska and two tone, not my bag baby but there was a cross section of punters here just for the custom show, so we had to swing from genre to genre.

During my set I introduced the records and gave a few dedications, as was the stylee when I was a nipper, Jimmy Foley said I sounded like Rave Vohn from pheonix Nights.............cheeky sod! During the evening Sven "Führer" was presented his colors of the Hidden Power Scooter Club, congratulations mate!

Big AFSC thank you to Mark at Lambretta Art for sending theses pictures. Mark is an AFSC member and provides the AFSC sticker, give him a shout  lambretta-art@ukonline.co.uk

The morning after the night before is always a killer so it was with sore heads and churning stomachs we left the youth hostel on the way back to Tor 2 to set up for the custom show. The manager of the youth hostel stopped me on the way out to congratulate some of our club members who managed to have a dry night and ask were his laundry bills should be sent? I won't embarrass any one by naming and shaming so you can guess your self. We can even have a "Name the swamper competition" Just e-mail me who you think it may be, please mark up the e-mail "The Johnno & John Wymark Swamping Competition" the lucky winner will win an AFSC plastic sheet.

The AFSC stand assembled thanks to Dia, Johnno and Dave Bellis, it was time for the meat of the weekend the custom show. Dia and I had spoken at great lengths about what the AFSC stand should look like and we wanted to present the clubs ethos of friendly rally going scooterists from all nationalities with service ties. I am not sure if we managed to achieve this and we were conscious about not looking like a Army Careers Office.

We settled for mince pies and sherry as a free bee give away along with business cards containing the club logo and web address, the AFSC back drop was in place and the scooters were illuminated by two paint melting spot lights thanks to Dia.

I think we did an outstanding job but we were pipped at the post by our friends The Jetsons Scooter Club. Their club stand was just fantastic with a lot of rather nice graphics courtesy of their newest club member, hats off to you lads it was brilliant but you didn't get "Biggest club Turn out" did ya huh huh!!!!

The custom show started at about 1000hrs and went on until 1800hrs, I had left The AFSC CD in the house CD player and it was playing away merrily in the back ground.

The AFSC CD was produced as a give away during HiH 2003 to help promote the club and there is some superb sounds on it! The CD had been set to loop each time and we heard it for eight hours continuous! I have now gone off Northernsoul and have the urge to murder prostitutes!

The AFSC won 3 of the many trophies up for grabs  Dave Bellis and I won one each for our scooters but the best was with out doubt the Biggest Club turn Out! For those who didn't win a trophy we have awarded you some thing even better so it gives me great pleasure, and I hope it always does, to announce The AFSC Hidden Power Custom Show Awards.............
