Northern Soul Allnighter in the FZW Dortmund

DJ's Thomas Liss, Carsten Fox, Peter Wer & Sunny the Dancer & Champ

Just woke up, Sunday morning and apart from feeling rather cream cracker'd I'm Ok, what an excellent night at Dortmund! Brilliant,  I visited The FZW Club a couple of times before and what struck me about this Nighter was the amount of soulies and scooterists who traveled. Its always nice to see the faces from the Scooter Scene and there was a general feeling of reunion.
Gabby came to our house from Amsterdam, arriving around 2100hrs. The plan was for Carol, Gabby and I to travel from Mönchengladbach to Dortmund and hook up with the other Germany based AFSC members. They say "the best laid plans of mice and men" Our son was ill (Puking like the exorcist minus head spin!) so Carol stayed home, Gabby and I set off alone. Now, the thought of taking a young good looking Dutch chick to an allnighter soon fades into a reality check when some one asked if she was my daughter! Cheek bastardo!

The usual geographical errors were made, I can't remember a nighter were I haven't been lost! soon we made it to The FZW Club all be it two hours later than anticipated. Great to see the HFC (KFC) AFSC posse less Lisa (crack hoe) Botham, I missed you Hun! Jimmy and (Hobgoblin) Sharon, Sharon looking good enough to be on a Christmas card! XXX. Ian and Daz. Exellent to see every one. Surprise of the evening was Dia Ranson who managed to slip away from a previous engagement, driving some distance to show face, aint showing face Brillllllllllllliannnnnnntttttttttttttttt!!

The dex were ably steered by Germany's finest Soul spinning talent, giving excellent uncompromising Northern that was strictly vinyl and appreciated by all. I was blown  away by Carsten Fox's newies spot, his rather expensive record box made me green with envy! Well done Carsten. Sunny and Champ teamed up for an oldies come classics stormer that had the main room buzzing! Down stairs was for the more discerning soul fan and Carsten along with Peter both played superb sets of modern and seventies, my fave! I take my hat off to a DJ who doesn't get bullied into playing safe and the quality of the tracks booming from the sound system was a treat and a half!

Borgo and Marion, just thought I'd say hi and Borgo happy Birthday mate! You will soon be catching up with me! Ace to see the Hidden Power Boys and Girls on their own turf, we look forward to the AFSC supporting the Hidden Power Custom Show on the weekend of the 18 - 19 December 04. I spoke at length to Wils and Gonzo of The Jetsons (AFSC) and we should be aware of the planned trip to Munich Custom Show, details will follow in a few days, watch this space. Big hi up to Sven (AFSC) boy were you drunk last night!

All in all an excellent Nighter, I never get home sick for England when there is such quality soul and quality people over here! Great night, thank you to all the DJ's who made a very old man seam very happy! yours in Soul Simon Cuerden AFSC afsc50@hotmail.com
